APT Vietnam Hanoi 2022: Vietnam’s Nguyen Van Sang Wins The Championships Event; Ankit Jajodia Finishes 5th

The first-ever Asian Poker Tour (APT) Vietnam Hanoi Loyal 2022 was a smashing success with its 2nd featured tournament – Championships Event – attracting 216 entries for a juicy prize pool of VND 7,333,200,000 ($ 315,540).  After five days of action from 15th to 19th June, it was Vietnam’s Nguyen Van Sang who emerged victorious to ship the title for a career high VND 1,823,500,000 ($ 78,500).

The just-concluded series proved a blockbuster series for the Indians with Team India bagging an impressive four trophies. The first featured event of the series, the Main Event, was won by none other than India’s rising star and PSL Season 4 Kolkata Kings captain, Shardul Parthasarathi. Alok Birewar won the No-Limit Holdem, while Mumbai pro Zarvan Tumboli won back-to-back titles in less than 24 hours. He first won the Deep Stack Hyper Turbo and then went on to ship the Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) the next evening, becoming the first Indian to ship two titles at a series in Vietnam.

Team India

Coming back to the Championships Event, two Indian players, Ankit Jajodia and Sumit Sapra made their way to Day 3. Jojodia entered Day 3 with the 11th highest stack of 362,000 chips, while Sapra began the day with 256,000 chips. While Sapra fell at 12th place for a payout of VND 131,91,000, Jojodia kept Indian flag flying high and made it to the final table of the featured tournament.

Jajodia entered the final table of the Championships Event with a 6th spot (670,000 chips) and did pretty well, finishing 5th for VND 456,490,000. Yet another Indian shining on the final day of the  series was none other than Zarvan Tumboli who won back-to-back titles in the series. The in-form poker pro made it to the Monster Stack final table where he finished in 7th place for 44 Million VND.
