WSOP 2022: Gregory Jensen Wins Event #86 For $824,649; Abhinav Iyer Finishes 38th For $20,000

 The American pro Gregory Jensen claimed his maiden gold bracelet in one of the final events of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2022. He overcame a strong field of 394 entrants in Event #86: $10,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em Championship, winning a new career-best $824,649.

Jensen began his 2022 WSOP campaign with a fourth-place finish in Event #42: $100K High Roller for a career-best $571,896. Just a few days ago, Jenson placed 13th in Event #83: $50,000 High Roller NLHE for $87,500. With the victory, he has boosted his live tournament earnings to $1,502,139.

Jensen overcame a tough FT featuring Lucas Foster (3rd for $341,902), bracelet winners Ali Eslami (4th for $234,396), Barak Wisbrod (5th for $164,304), and Brock Wilson (6th place for $117,819).

Jensen eventually defeated Pavel Plesuv, who was also chasing his first bracelet and finished runner-up for $509,674. The final hand of the event saw Jensen moving all-in with As 9s and Plesuv made the call with his pocket sevens. The board ran out 9c 2h Jc 8h Js, giving the title to Jensen.

The championship event generated a prize pool of $3.7 million and paid out the top 60 players. There were several big names crossing the money line, including India’s Abhinav Iyer. The former bracelet winner placed 38th for $20,000 (INR 15.99 Lac). This was his eighth cash at the WSOP 2022. His best run of the series had come in Event #25: $800 NLHE Deepstack where he finished in 7th place and walked away with $56,388 (INR 43.99 Lac).
